2004 saw the 50th anniversary of the first production Metropolitan, and of the car going on sale in North America. The MOC celebrated this significant milestone in Metropolitan history with 2 separate rallies over the weekend of July 24-25, culminating in the largest gathering of Metropolitans ever to be seen in the UK.
On Saturday 24th July, 15 cars attended the first day's events at the world famous Brooklands Museum near Weybridge, Surrey. This was the world's first purpose-built motor-racing circuit, constructed in 1907. The restored clubhouse and the museum provided a fascinating attraction and it was great to be able to take our cars on one of the few remaining sections of the famous banked concrete track, on which so many world speed records were set.
